Aging In Community is a broad movement, with many groups pursuing unique approaches. Here's some of the leading advocates:

This Boston (MA) group has a model for neighborhood organizing to create community-in-place.

Cohousing Association of the U.S. (Coho/US)
Reinventing society, one neighborhood at a time, by helping people create new (and retrofit existing) neighborhoods, condos with community -- and privacy. Nearly 100 built so far in the U.S., and hundreds more under development, both intergenerational and for seniors

Fellowship for Intentional Community (FIC)
Helping people create and thrive in coops, communes, cohousing, ecovillages, and other forms of community. Publishes the Communities Directory and Communities magazine

National Aging In Place Council (NAIPC)
A trade association (with increasing involvement from community organizers) dedicated to helping people stay in their homes, through assistive technology and financial tools.

"Awakening Human Potential in Life's 2nd Half," doing workshops around the country involving visioning for community.

Live Oak is drawing from experience reinventing nursing homes to help people gather and jointly lead and participate in self-assessment processes.

Linking aging, wisdom, and sustainability... helping to tell the Earth's Story.
