To form an international network among leaders of organized hiking groups for the purpose of cooperating, exchanging knowledge, and fostering international understanding.

Who should join?
Experienced Organizers of well-organized, active hiking groups. If you are outside of the USA or Europe in a part of the world that's great for hiking, the membership criteria will be more relaxed as we want to help groups in these areas be successful. In the USA and Europe, there are enough resources and support for hiking groups to help you get started.
What does the International Hiking Alliance do?
We cooperate and network at the international level. Which form this cooperation will take, we will find out as it happens :-)
Do local groups in the Alliance have a common meeting format?
Since our chapters are spread out over the globe, we do not have a meeting where we all get together.
What have you accomplished?
So far, we have managed to get 13 Meetup Organizers excited about networking :-)
How can I get involved?
- If you are an organizer of a hiking group (Meetup or other), you can apply to join the Alliance.
- If you are a member of a hiking group, you can ask your organizer to apply to join the Alliance. Or you can become assistant organizer and join the Hiking Alliance in his/her place (with their permission, of course)
- If you are not a member of a hiking goup, you can either join one, or if there is none in your area, you can start one.
